Mobilizing ADEPR and Anglican College Students with Sesengura Bible Study

Rwanda’s 2022 census shows that ADEPR and Anglican churches are among the largest denominations, with ADEPR alone comprising 21% of Rwandans. To mobilize these groups for missions, we focused on their college ministry associations, CEP (Pentecostal) and RASA (Anglican).

In April, we trained student leaders from these associations using the Sesengura Bible Study (translated from Xplore). Unlike other mission mobilization courses, Sesengura is easy to replicate and equips Christians to participate in missions through going to the Unreached people, prayer, supporting the missionaries, welcoming internationals and Mobilization of their friends to do the same.

Obed, a Tubasange board member, has seen the transformative impact of Sesengura. He introduced it in his Anglican church’s youth discipleship program at Remera Parish, where it cultivated a deep mission focus. The group now actively prays for and supports missionaries. Obed also uses Sesengura at Kigali Christian School, where he serves as a chaplain, discipling students with a heart for missions.

We have done two retreat trainings for leaders of CEP and leaders of RASA separately. We taught them how to lead Sesengura in Small group training sessions of each lesson. We started with leaders Colleges in Kigali. This September, we’ll expand to colleges outside Kigali. We envision these students becoming mission mobilizers in their churches after graduation.

We are also pursuing a formal partnership with ADEPR leadership to deepen our collaboration.

Women in Mission Conference

On May 3rd, Assumpta led the second Women in Mission Conference, a biannual event inspiring women to embrace their role in God’s mission.

Speakers included Rhoda, leader of Youth for Christ’s School of discipleship and Leadership, and Abir, a missionary from Tunisia serving in Rwanda. Alongside their stories, Tubasange missionaries Rachel and Emily shared practical insights, creating a balanced, impactful conference.

The conference empowered women to navigate cultural and theological challenges, fostering a biblically grounded approach to their role in missions

The Women in Mission Conference had a powerful Panel Discussion

Tubasange Missionary Retreat

In May, we hosted a rejuvenating 4-day retreat at Kingfisher Beach Resort, Lake Muhazi. This gathering brought Tubasange missionaries together for spiritual, emotional, and physical renewal.

Assumpta and Leah Bright organized the event. We invited an experienced missionary couple from Trinidad and Tobago and Germany, who shared 20+ years of wisdom and had a time to listen to each one who attended the retreat.

Attendees included:

The retreat was filled with prayer, devotional teaching, laughter, encouragement, and personal support for each missionary. We are thankful to everyone who had a part of making this retreat possible .

Prayer and Praise Points:

  •  Praise God for His provision for the retreat and the encouragement it brought to our missionaries.
  • Pray for the mobilization of ADEPR and Anglican churches, beginning with college students, and for the formal partnership with ADEPR leadership.
  • Thank God for the success of the Women in Mission Conference.
